CAMPAIGN PROPOSALS

v  Our Bus service should have a new logistics.

At the National University of Colombia, campus Medellin, around of 80% of the students use the bus service, two out of three students, are dissatisfied with the service, and one out of three students doesn’t use it. We consider that the number of buses is not enough, but we can’t promise to buy more. Instead of that, we propose to reorganize the logistics of our bus routes, that is to say, it will be more efficient. Buses will begin their journey from Volador to Robledo, 7:40 am, and simultaneously from  Robledo to Volador. In this way people from Robledo won’t arrive late to class in Volador. Furthermore, other big problem about the buses service is the field trips, many fields trips are cancelled because there are no buses. We will work on having an agreement between private companies and our University to use their buses for a cheaper price, student will contribute to those companies, by having their professional practice in those companies.

v  Optimization Of The actual Recycling System.

In this age, where it is required that professionals will be more aware and give priority to the environment, it is very important to include within our professional formation at the University,  in all the careers, training about the environment friendly projects, such the reuse materials, or how to do a good environmental study at these same. With these good projects, we are expected to transform and to improve our recycling system at our own University. The main problem is that people don’t know where to throw their garbage, they don’t place it in the right bin, two out of three people, ignore the use of the system implemented.

The wellness area university to implement a recycling system has a duty to train and acculturating people about the importance of recycling. Our proposal is to form a student group which will be responsible for carrying out awareness campaigns and recycling brigades bimonthly. The campaign will consist of educational advertising campaigns, accompanied by a carnival and some recreation activities. In addition to these measures, perform monitoring the final disposal of the garbage and recycling after collection, because it is very important that this recycling system works holistically.

v  The Food Service In The "National University" Needs To Be Improvement

Cafeterias and restaurants in our University service need to solve three main problems: quality, variety and hygiene. Many people suggest that the product offering should have a high nutritional value. Also the food in some places is not very tasty and, most of all, some laboratory studies carried out at the University have been have identified big faults in terms of hygiene in product offerings. We consider it is necessary to have a permanent and strict sanitary control over these places, weekly checks without notice will be carried out by the competent authorities; at least one nutritionist will be required to work in each cafeteria; and  more laboratory studies will be carried out to guarantee the quality if the products. Furthermore, we propose to have a ticket that will be given to our students each month and allowing them to have better prices. These proposals will be done in agreement with the University Students Welfare Office. In conclusion, we are very committed to ensure the safety and quality of food to protect health and welfare of the university community.

v  The University Should Have a Greater Number of Quotas for Residence Halls

The university bring about   700  students from other regions and needs to open up more seats in the dormitories for them. To achieve this we formulate a project with the community of Iguana with initial resources provided by the university and a minimum monthly fee provided by the student to provide basic infrastructure like bathrooms, beds and cooking extend to households wishing to be part of the project and host a college student. This would benefit students and neighbors of the university. The households in the project would be chosen by university employees according to established criteria. For example, they must have a room available and a space that allows the student to perform their academic work comfortably, and be a trusted family. Bimonthly reviews would be made to students and households in the project.
